40 Years Of Helping Our Community

Our story begins with Frank Duran, a long-time member of the Bell Gardens community, former City Councilmember, and Mayor from 1992-94. 

He started helping people in the late 1970s because a member of our church asked him for help with a tax form. Soon he discovered there was demand from others as well who also needed help, so he took tax preparation classes in order to better support them and so, Su Income Tax was born. 

That first year, he charged only $2 per return, and often provided his services for free. Frank’s reputation eventually grew so much that he converted one of our bedrooms to do taxes out of our single family house. Eventually he earned his Notary Public license, as well as Justice of the Peace. In 1989, Frank moved to an office building down the street to set up Su Income Tax, the same one that we still occupy today. 

Frank’s business model has always been simple: help hard-working families who need it the most. From workers, to contractors, to small family businesses -- we help all members of the community by providing a place for high quality assistance, without the high service fees.  

Today, Su Income Tax continues Frank Duran’s legacy with his daughters Norma and Jeanette. Over the past 30 years, my sister and I have both assisted our clients, also earning our tax preparation certificates and Notary Public licenses. We are proud to walk in Frank’s footsteps by providing honest, dependable, and reliable services.
